LAKE BAIKAL

Lake Baikal is located in Siberia. It is the deepest lake in the world. Its depth is 1,637 meters. The water in Baikal is fresh. This water is drinkable. The lake is so large that it is called the Siberian Sea. Its length is 636 kilometers. In shape, Baikal resembles a crescent moon, so it is easy to find on the map of Russia. There are 27 islands on Baikal, the most famous of which is Olkhon.

The water in Baikal is clean. In the past, you could drink it directly from the lake, but now there are many tourists in this area, so the water should not be drunk. If you want to drink water from Baikal, ask the locals where it is safe to do so. The lake and its shores are home to many unique plants and animals that you won’t find anywhere else in the world.

The nature here is amazing. Sometimes the sun shines brightly, and at other times strong waves rise. Baikal looks very beautiful when the mountains are reflected in the lake like in a mirror. You need to come to this place to see with your own eyes one of the most amazing lakes on our planet!
