In the village of Larabanga in northern Ghana, there is a very old white mosque. It was built in 1421. It is already over 600 years old. It is one of the oldest mosques in West Africa!
The mosque looks unusual. It has tall towers and thick walls made of clay. When you look at the Larabanga Mosque, sometimes it is white, and sometimes it is golden. Its walls are often damaged by rain, but people repair them using clay.
Nearby grows an ancient tree that is 400 years old. Every year, Muslims come here for a big holiday.
Tourists are not allowed to enter the mosque, but everyone can look at it from the outside and take photos. It is better to visit from November to April when there is no rain.
This is an amazing place where you can see ancient African architecture and get acquainted with traditions.
