This Catholic church is located in Abidjan. It was built in 1987 and has become an important place for all the country’s Catholics. Thousands of people come here from other West African countries. Italian architect Aldo Spirito designed this place. The country’s first president, Félix Houphouët-Boigny, supported the construction of the church.
This is an unusual building with a tall tower. The church is light yellow, and its roof is blue and gray. The roof resembles a road leading upwards. The height of the tower is 53 meters. Inside the church, you can see stained-glass windows depicting scenes from the life of the Virgin Mary. There are also wooden sculptures. It is very beautiful here in the evening when candles are lit.
The church is active, and regular services are held. Outside the church, there is a beautiful garden for prayer.
