On August 1, a unique educational event dedicated to the Great Patriotic War was held at the YSPU Center for open education at the University of Ghana.

Students learned about the causes of the war, key battles and the heroism of our people, about the siege of Leningrad and about patriotism, which inspires to this day.

Questions from students confirmed their interest and desire to learn more. A quiz became a bright conclusion to the event: students actively participated, demonstrating their knowledge and passion for the topic. All participants were awarded for their activity and desire to learn.

On August 4, a holiday of African culture was held at the children’s health camp in Saharaj. Students from Cameroun and Côte d’Ivoire were greeted with smiles! Our African friends told about their traditions, performed fiery dances and introduced everyone to the peculiarities of their country. After the concert, the children all played traditional games together: brook and blind man’s buff.

There was also a master class on braiding real African braids. The children learned new techniques and got a lot of positive emotions!

The visit ended with a friendly football match between our teaching staff and guests.

On August 11, students from Côte d’Ivoire and Cameroun studying at YSPU were ceremoniously presented with certificates of completion of the Russian language course.

The students will continue their studies in various bachelor’s and master’s programs both at YSPU and at other universities of Yaroslavl and Moscow.

These opportunities became available to students thanks to the work of the teachers of the Faculty of Russian language and Culture and Foreign Languages of YSPU in Africa, which became possible with the support of the Ministry of Education and the Foundation for the Support of Humanities «My History».

On August 15, the implementation of additional general educational programs «Theater as a Reflection of the Russian Soul» and «Russian Language in Professional Interaction (Economics, Law)» was completed at the YSPU Center for open education in Ghana.

The students got acquainted with the history of the Russian Drama Theater named after F. Volkov — the first Russian theater, learned about its origin and modern life, as well as about theater etiquette. As the result — interesting reports by students on the theater history of Yaroslavl, the guys shared their knowledge and impressions with their classmates. Active participation and lively discussion made this event unforgettable.

During the development of the second program, the students were immersed in the vocabulary of economics and law, learned about the rules for writing business letters. Using the knowledge they gained, the students staged scenes on the topic of professional communication.
