In the small town of Tengrela in northern Côte d’Ivoire, there is one of the most beautiful ancient mosques in the country. It is called the Tengrela Mosque. It was built in 1655 from clay, wood, and straw. A man named Massa built it for 5 years. He was a mason.
People come here to pray. The eastern part of the mosque has a prayer hall, and the western part is the women’s section. Because the walls are made of clay, it is cool inside.
The Tengrela Mosque is an important historical monument.
