This week, as part of the assignment from the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation to establish Open Education Centers in the Republics of Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana, Yaroslavl State Pedagogical University (YSPU) named after K.D. Ushinsky was visited by representatives from two West African universities on a return visit.
On April 4th, a delegation from ETIC University, which included Rector Assoumou Epouse Adou n’Won Marie, Secretary General Dr. Langouy Marc, the dean, and leading faculty members, were guests of the Yaroslavl Pedagogical University. The meeting was held with the support of Alexey Saltykov, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Côte d’Ivoire.
During the visit, the parties discussed the plan for implementing the agreement concluded in March 2023. Thus, within the next three months, premises for the YSPU Open Education Center will be prepared at ETIC University, and the cohort of students who will undergo Russian language study programs will be determined. The opening of the center and the start of classes are planned for September 2023.
One of the key discussion points was a proposal from the leadership of ETIC University to organize bilateral faculty internships, academic student exchanges, and, if possible, opportunities for ETIC graduates to continue their education at Yaroslavl State Pedagogical University.

Furthermore, the parties agreed to hold bilateral open online classes in April and May, where students will be able to learn about the history and culture of both countries and explore in more detail the educational systems of both the Russian Federation and the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire. Joint media projects were also discussed at the meeting. For example, one member of the delegation participated in filming for the All-Russian «Reading Ushinsky» campaign, dedicated to the Year of the Teacher and Mentor.
In addition to negotiations, the meeting included a university tour, where the delegation members were able to get a closer look at YSPU’s infrastructure, including visiting the Technopark of Universal Pedagogical Competencies, the A.A. Ukhtomsky Pedagogical Quantorium, the Rare Book Collection, demo exam rooms, and more.
