On July 20th, Alexey Eduardovich Saltykov, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire and concurrently to Burkina Faso, paid an official visit to Yaroslavl State Pedagogical University. The visit was related to the opening of the Center for Open Education in the Russian Language by YSPU named after K.D. Ushinsky in the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire and marked a continuation in the development of cooperative efforts. The visit included a meeting with YSPU lecturers who will soon travel to the capital of Côte d’Ivoire, Abidjan, to teach the Russian language to students in the republic.
The Ambassador, an brilliant expert on Africa, the mentality of its people, and the specifics of the country’s university system, expressed his readiness to support the educational and cultural contacts that the Center for Open Education (COE) is set to develop.








«Yaroslavl State Pedagogical University has demonstrated a sustained interest in developing ties with Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana recently. We are providing full support in this process as we face the critically important task of developing the humanitarian direction through the promotion of the Russian language and Russian culture,» — Alexey Eduardovich Saltykov.
«Starting in September, a series of large-scale Russian language teaching programs will be implemented in person at the center. The programs will be carried out by leading lecturers from our university. This event will undoubtedly become notable within the framework of the Year of the Teacher and Mentor,» — Mikhail Vadimovich Gruzdev.
«Now, our capabilities and the potential of our organizations, both in education, culture, sports, and all humanitarian spheres, can be directed towards expanding contacts with our traditional friends. We are indeed receiving many interesting proposals from China, Belarus, Abkhazia, the countries of the South Caucasus, and, of course, Africa, where we closely cooperate with the pedagogical university,» — Vyacheslav Igorevich Gavrilov.
In addition to the meeting, the University Rector and the First Vice-Rector, Alexander Mikhailovich Khodyrev, introduced the guests to YSPU’s infrastructure, shared the history and traditions of the university, its current projects, and the opportunities offered by its educational programs.
Following the official visit to Yaroslavl Pedagogical University, Alexey Eduardovich and his spouse visited the main sights of our city. The tour route included a visit to the Tolga Monastery, where the guests could experience its unique atmosphere.
Recall that in March of this year, memorandums of cooperation were signed between Yaroslavl Pedagogical University and two universities in the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire – ETIC University and the International University of Cocody.
