The history of Yaroslavl State Pedagogical University named after K.D.Ushinsky, one of the oldest universities in the country, begins on December 7, 1908, when, in accordance with the resolution of Emperor Nicholas II "Let it be so" on the law on the establishment of a teachers' institute in Yaroslavl, classes began there. The university's biography impresses with the organic interaction of traditions and innovations, the deep continuity of educational, scientific, cultural and educational activities that the university has been conducting for 115 years.
The Institute was named after the outstanding teacher Konstantin Dmitrievich Ushinsky "for achievements in the training of scientific and pedagogical personnel", and this symbolic act became the starting point of a new fruitful stage: the foundations of scientific schools in the field of pedagogy, psychology, and physiology are being laid, postgraduate studies are underway, and the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports is opening.
The university's modern history begins: YAGPI was transformed into Yaroslavl State Pedagogical University. New faculties and departments are being organized, dissertation councils are being opened, and a modern educational and laboratory building is being built.
For 115 years, YAGPU has trained 100,000 specialists, 85% of the region's teachers are graduates of YAGPU. Among the university's students there are many outstanding figures of science, culture and education, major public and state figures, Olympic champions, world and European champions.
